Actor RJ Cyler will play the part of Billy the Blue Ranger, the new Power Ranger hero who is on the autism spectrum.

Cyler said that he wanted to show the viewpoint of people that are seen as being on the spectrum. He said that he wanted to portray how people that are on the spectrum are just regular people.

This is soon after popular kids show Sesame Street announced it was adding Julia, the first-ever autistic Muppet, to the regular cast.

It is rare to see characters who are clearly shown to be on the autism spectrum, heroes even more so. Billy the Blue Ranger, and Julia the Muppet are hopefully the beginning of a change.

The Maharashtra government is planning to ask actor Amitabh Bachchan to be a part of a campaign to stop the abortion of female fetuses in the country.

Amitabh will be asked to be the brand ambassador for the public awareness campaign.

The government is planning to act against the rising number of cases of gender discrimination. It is illegal in India to find the gender of the baby in the womb but it is still done secretly.

Recently an abortion racket was detected in Maharashtra when 19 aborted female fetuses were found in a drain near a private clinic.

Parth Thakur is a 21-year-old thalassemia major patient who studies biotechnology from St Xavier’s College in Mumbai.

Thalassemia is a blood disorder passed down through families in which the body makes an abnormal form of haemoglobin.

Parth is set out to create awareness about the disease through a photo-story exhibition which has started recently.

The exhibition has about 90 photo stories called ‘Smiles despite everything’ which is put together by Parth and other students from his college.

The idea is to show positive stories of some thalassemia major and leukaemia patients to inspire others to live their dreams.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan’s new film Sarkar 3 has been postponed by over a month.

The film was supposed to release on 7 April but now will hit the theatres on 12 May.

The film is directed by Ram Gopal Varma. The release date is shifted because of delay in post-production work.

Sarkar 3 is the third part of the political thriller film Sarkar.

Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Subhash Nagre. The film also stars Yami Gautam, Amit Sadh, Jackie Shroff and Manoj Bajpayee in important roles.

Bollywood actor Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh Khan have been issued show cause notices by the Enforcement Directorate.

SRK and his wife Gauri are the owners of Kolkata Knight Riders and Juhi Chawla is the partner. The notice states that they have violated the Foreign Exchange Management Act.

Shares in the Kolkata Knight Riders were sold to a Mauritius-based company owned by Juhi Chawla's husband, Jay Mehta, at prices lower than the actual value. This caused a foreign exchange loss of Rs 73.6 crore.

The sale was done in 2008 and came to light in a 2014 audit by the ED.

Bollywood drector Shirish Kunder has said sorry for his comment referring to the new Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as a goon.

A police complaint was registered in Hazratganj in Uttar Pradesh against the filmmaker, who is also director Farah Khan's husband.

Kunder had recently posted a comment on Twitter criticising the decision to appoint Adityanath as the new CM of UP through a tweet, which he later deleted.

Kunder is known to express his honest and often funny anti-BJP opinions on Twitter.

Romeo Hadley is a five-year-old boy in the United Kingdom whose legs were amputated due to a rare illness. He loves Spiderman and wants to act in a Spiderman movie.

His acting dream has been fulfilled as he has got a role in a special episode of hit TV drama show ‘Call The Midwife’.

Romeo will play the role of a young patient living in the 1950s with thalidomide-related disability.

In the 70s, thalidomide was given to pregnant women to treat severe morning sickness. However it was later found that thalidomide harmed the development of unborn babies and cause serious birth defects.

The show is produced by BBC and Romeo is very happy with the whole experience.

The theatrical release of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion in Karnataka is in doubt as some pro-Kannada groups say they will not let the movie release in the state.

Members of the group Kannada Rakshana Vedike staged a protest as they are angry with Sathyaraj, who plays the role of Kattapa in the film. According to them, Tamil actor Sathyaraj had spoken negatively about how the people of the state behaved during the Cauvery water sharing protests in 2016.

They say this has hurt their sentiments. They will not allow Baahubali to be released unless Sathyaraj apologises to all Kannadigas.

Another group in Karnataka is demanding that the film be dubbed into Kannada.

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has taken up the issue of Clean India and the importance of building toilets at home.

Akshay shared a short informative video called ‘Soch aur Shauch’ on Facebook recently.

In the video, Akshay talks about the problems of open defecation in India and how villages still don’t have access to toilets.

He urges people to help build toilets for the poor instead of putting the responsibility on the government.

Akshay is also going to create awareness about the problem in his upcoming film ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ which is set to release on 2 June.

Dancer and choreographer Avantika Bahl has created a new show with the help of hearing impaired dancer Vishal Sarvaiya. Sarvaiya has been a part of the Shiamak Davar dance company.

The dance that has been created includes sign language merged with bodily movements. The aim of the dance sequence is to depict how deaf people feel.

The whole dance will be performed in silence as a tribute to life of people with hearing impairments.

The show is to be held on 25 March, 7.30 pm at The Mumbai Assembly in Bandra, Mumbai. The entry fee costs Rs 300. For tickets, visit: www.bookmyshow.com.
