Film Soorma about paralysed hockey captain boosts the spirits of battlefield bravehearts

The story of Sandeep Singh, the former captain of the Indian hockey team is certainly one that inspires many. And its a story that touches a special chord in the hearts of people who are affected with a disability.

No wonder that the screening of Soorma at the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre in Khadki, Pune was such a special moment for the disabled soldiers undergoing treatment.

The event was done specially to boost the morale of the soldiers here, many of whom were injured in the course of action.

Film director Shaad Ali, organised the screening, and was also present on the occasion. The main role of Sandeep Singh in the film has been played by actor Diljit Dosanjh.

Soorma shows the story of Singh, who was paralysed in one leg after he was shot on a train. How he overcame this situation and came back to play for India is the theme of the film.

Ali said that watching the film with the disabled soldiers was a special experience as they are the real soormas or brave warriors. He later told the audience that he felt lucky to have seen the film in their company. Senior officers present also said that watching the film was an emotional experience for every one present.
