1 dead, hundreds hospitalized as mysterious disease grips Andhra district

As Covid pandemic continues to affect Andhra Pradesh, one of the districts Eluru reported a mysterious disease over the weekend. One person is dead and more than 300 fell sick after this disease spread across parts of Eluru. The deceased, a 45-year-old man named Sridhar was admitted to the GGH in Eluru and passed away on Sunday evening. Over 75 people were admitted in various local hospitals after they complained of seizures, nausea and for some epilepsy too. Nearly 200 people were discharged post treatment.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy visited Eluru and held talks with district officials on Monday. He has assured help at the earliest to all those who have been affected.
A holiday was declared for all educational institutions across Eluru. A control room was set up at Eluru Municipal corporation office.
Though numerous tests were conducted on affected, district officials couldn’t arrive at a conclusion or exact reason for the disease. So a team of expert doctors from AIIMS was sent to track origin of the disease.
This unknown, mysterious disease that gripped the district caused panic amongst people as they searched for answers.
