Kochi Metro to give jobs to 23 transgenders

Nearly 23 transgender persons will be given jobs in the Kochi Metro in Kerala. They will be part of the 530 workers of the Kudumbasree, a women self-help group of Kerala that will work for the first metro of the state.

This is for the first time that a government-owned company is giving jobs to transgender persons.

The transgender persons have been selected after they successfully completed the written tests and interviews. They were also given training in soft and technical skills and safety.

The selected transgender persons will be working at ticket counters, housekeeping, parking, customer relations and gardening sections based on their qualifications.
