Volunteers in Delhi to help elderly, PwD at railway stations
The Northern Railways has created a group of volunteers across three major railway stations to help the travellers, especially the elderly and the disabled, in accessing their trains.
The initiative has been introduced in railway stations of Old Delhi, New Delhi and Anand Vihar.
The idea is to take a good care of the senior citizens, women, children and people with disabilities during the summer rush when the trains are more crowded.
The volunteers will help with general queries and keep wheelchairs and golf carts ready for the elderly and the disabled so that they can be taken to their platform or train.
