Book group offers helpline to visually impaired in the United Kingdom
Living Paintings publisher offers a special book group called ‘Touch to See’ for the visually impaired people in the UK.
The book group uses Living Paintings books which are about famous paintings such as the Mona Lisa or Van Gogh’s sunflowers.
The books have larger images and descriptive audio files read out by a celebrity or expert on a given topic that helps the visually impaired readers to share their memories and experiences and also make new friends within the community.
The book group provides the service for free to over 4,200 blind and partially sighted members across UK. The idea is to make them confident and reduce their social isolation and loneliness.
