Toy cars for kids with disabilities developed
Scientists have developed new toy cars to encourage children with disabilities to engage in physical and social activities.
The sit-to-stand car encourages the child to stand up so it can activate the switch that makes the car move. The aim is to help develop the physical skills of pulling up to stand, bear weight and balance.
This is also a way for children who have limitations on their upper body movements to participate in throwing. It also encourages kids to socialize, say researchers. A sit-to-stand car has been designed for children who may or are expected to walk eventually but their walking is delayed.
