US space agency plans mission to touch the sun
American space research organization NASA, has announced a mission to reach near the sun. NASA, which stands for National Aeronautics and Space Administration, will launch a spacecraft named 'Parker Solar Probe' on 31 July 2018.
The spacecraft will have no human crew and will reach within 60 lakh km of the solar surface. This will be almost like touching the sun, something no manmade object has been able to do so far in the history of space technology.
The aim of the mission is to study why the outer atmosphere of sun is hotter than its surface. This is NASA's first mission to the sun and its outermost atmosphere.
