Blind, kidney transplant patient aces CBSE exam

15-year-old Kavya Budarayavalasa of Thane is visually challenged and a kidney transplant patient. But all that was no barrier to her determination to do well in her CBSE exams.

Kavya scored 92.5% in her Class 10 exams and has proved that the power of the mind has no limits. Kavya says that her mind was made up when she heard someone say they felt bad for her, as she was not like other students who did not have a visual impairment.

That made her determined to excel at everything - academics, drawing and singing. She says that she was also inspired after she read the e-book 'The Story of My Life' by Helen Keller, who was blind and deaf herself. Her parents also believed in her and helped her.
