Central government employees to get revised allowances from July
Nearly 47 lakh employees of the central government will start to get higher allowances as per the suggestion by 7th Pay Commission from next month.
The government will provide the revised allowances including house rent allowance (HRA) from July.
The Empowered Committee of Secretaries has kept the House Rent Allowance (HRA) rate at 24%, 16% and 8% of the Basic Pay for class X, Y and Z cities, says a report.
It means that the rate of HRA will be revised to 27%, 18% and 9% when Daily Allowance (DA) crosses 50%, and further revised to 30%, 20% and 10% when DA crosses 100%.
The current rates of HRA for Class X, Y and Z cities and towns are 30%, 20% and 10% of Basic pay, which is pay in the pay group plus grade pay.
