Survey shows abuse of elderly in Indian cities
A survey conducted by the HelpAge India organization has revealed the poor condition of elderly people in the country.
It was found in the survey that 44 percent senior citizens were treated badly in public. Apart from this, more than half of old people said, they believed that Indian society discriminates against elders.
In Bangalore, 70% of elders said they had experienced abuse and mistreatment in public spaces.
The survey found that Delhi is a little better with its older people and 23 percent elders reported abuse in public.
Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar and Chennai emerged as the worst five cities where elders are ill-treated in public spaces.
