1000 Wi-Fi hotspots introduced in Hyderabad

The government of Telangana has introduced a new project called ‘Hyderabad City Hy-Fi Project’ to connect the citizens of the city online.

The project has started 1,000 Wi-Fi hotspots set up by companies like Airtel, ACT Fibernet and Indus Towers across Hyderabad. It is said to be one of the largest public Wi-Fi initiatives in India and is expected to set up 3,000 more hotspots in the city over the next three months.

These hotspots will provide speed of 5-10 Mbps with 30 minutes of free Wi-Fi. After 30 minutes, users will be charged for these services.

The initiative is a part of the government’s Digital India programme, which aims to transform the country into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.
