Sensex closes 179 points down, Nifty settles below 9600

The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty were trading low on Tuesday. This was because there were reports that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has asked banks to keep aside at least 50% of the loan amount for accounts referred to bankruptcy courts.

The BSE Sensex closed 179.96 points down at 30,958.25 while the NSE Nifty closed 63.55 points down at 9,511.40. The top three Sensex gainers were Bharti Aritel (+1.61%), ONGC (+1.23%) and Hero Motoco (+0.97%). The top three Sensex losers were SBI India (-3.27%), Axis Bank (-2.34%) and Infosys (-1.80%). The top three Nifty gainers were IOC (+1.77%), GAIL (+1.54%) and Bharti Airtel (+1.32%). The top three Nifty losers were Bank of Baroda (-4.20%), ACC (-3.73%) and Zeel (-3.72%).
