Tips to avoid common mistakes while filing tax returns
If you are worried that you will make mistakes while filing your income tax returns (ITR), here are some tips to avoid them.
Use Form ITR 1 (Sahaj) if you earn income from salary only. If you are an owner of a department store or business, file your income tax return in Form ITR 3 or ITR 4 (for financial year 2016-17). Write your correct PAN and include the Form 16 or Form 16A given by employer to claim the TDS credit.
Write correct details like name, address, Aadhaar number, amount of tax, bank account details and other important details to file your income tax return.
Claim your deductions for contribution in PPF account, expenses on disabled persons and contributions to a charitable trust while filing your taxes.
Disclose all the incomes that you earn from all the sources like winning from a lottery or selling your land or house, income from fixed and recurring deposits and others.
