Oscars Academy invites Amitabh, Aamir, Priyanka as new members

Indian actors Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai, Deepika Padukone, Salman Khan and Irrfan Khan are among the 774 people from 57 countries, who are invited to be a part of the Academy and vote in the Oscars this year.

Mrinal Sen and Goutam Ghose have been invited among the filmmakers, while Sooni Taraporevala and Buddhadeb Dasgupta have been added to the list of writers from India.

This year the Academy has increased its membership ranks by bringing in more women, people of colour and filmmakers from around the world to share their views in recognizing the talent across the world.

The new members will become a part of seven groups - actors, casting directors, costume designers, designers, documentary, executives and film editors.
