Elderly woman in Kolkata gets India's first robotic knee replacement surgery
A 61-year-old woman in Kolkata got India's first Navio robotic knee replacement surgery. This is the first time such a surgery has been attempted by a private hospital in Gurgaon.
The woman had been suffering from joint pain over the last few years. The surgery was done using the latest robotic intervention in joint replacement. The new technology aims to reduce the recovery time as compared to entire knee replacement.
The new technology enables the surgeon to repair the damaged part of the knee without causing any pain. It also ensures lesser bone removal, preserves the natural structure and helps recover faster after surgery.
Patients gain full movement, including sitting cross-legged and squatting in a few months, claim doctors.
