Andhra Pradesh NGO employs disabled to make eco-friendly bags

Sampoorna, an NGO from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh has employed 20 disabled women to make bags that can help to save and protect the environment.

These 20 disabled women come from the nearby villages to make paper and cloth bags and earn between Rs 100 and Rs 200 per day based on the number of bags they make.

Each day the NGO makes about 100 paper bags and 50 cloth bags and depending on the size, the cloth bags are priced from Rs 10 to Rs 100 per bag and paper bags are priced from Rs 4 to Rs 40.

The idea is to replace plastic bags with cloth or paper bags in shops and stores and also help disabled people lead independent lives.
