This NGO helps 10,000 runaway kids reunite with their families
Samatol, an NGO based in Mumbai has managed to reunite around 10,000 runaway children with their families in the last 13 days.
Started by Vijay Jadhav, the NGO today works with the police, child welfare committee, juvenile justice board and other government departments and organisations to build a child-friendly society.
The NGO has teams of volunteers at railway stations who keep a check on runaway children between the ages of five to 15 years. The volunteers identify such children, register them at the closest railway police station and then take them to a government hospital for a medical exam.
The NGO also counsels such children so that they can provide the details about their family and help the volunteers to find out their parents.
