Indian astronomers discover supercluster in space
Indian astronomers have discovered a supercluster of galaxies and they have named it 'Saraswati'.
The discovery was made at the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics in Pune, Maharashtra.
This is one of the largest known structures in the Universe near us and is at a distance of 400 crore light-years away.
A cluster can normally contain 1,000 to 10,000 galaxies and a super cluster could have 40 to 43 such clusters.
In India Saraswati is worshipped as the goddess of knowledge, music, art, wisdom, nature and creativity.
This project was supported by the University Grants Commission of India.
