Gurugram hosts marathon to sensitize society towards the disabled

To make society more sensitive towards the disabled, a 'Day Breaker Half Marathon' was organized in Gurugram on Sunday.

The aim was to include people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in all aspects of life.

The National Trust, which is a part of Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, organized the event under its 'Inclusive India’ campaign. The aim is to make the disabled a part of education, employment and community by changing the mindset and attitudes of society.

The event had four runs- 5kms, 10 kms, 15 kms and 21 kms and a special 2 kms walk for special individuals. Around 200 school children took part, along with corporates, police and residents.
