Mumbai Metro to start India's first mobile ticketing system

People travelling in Mumbai Metro can now use their smartphones to get their journey ticket to travel on the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar route.

It is because ‘OnGo’, the country’s first mobile ticketing system is likely to be started from mid-August 2017.

Right now, the Metro Railway provides tickets in the form of token or smart card.

With the launch of the new system, Metro travelers can buy their ticket or pass on their mobile phones and use a QR code to get access through automated fare collection (AFC) gates.

Users can access the ‘OnGo’ facility through a link on the Mumbai Metro app, which will give the option to book tickets, select railway stations and make ticket payments.
