Paytm plans to introduce chat service in its app soon

Online payment service Paytm plans to introduce a chat service of its own by the end of August.

The company will include the new facility into its mobile app to allow users to communicate with each other and exchange audio, pictures and videos.

Paytm, which also runs an online shopping website Paytm Mall, has about 230 million app users. The company hopes to attract its payment app users to this new feature and help business connect with customers.

With this move, Paytm will be competing with messaging apps like Hike Messenger and WhatsApp.

Recently, Hike introduced payments through wallet and Unified Payment Interface (UPI) while WhatsApp is expected to begin its payments service soon.
