Self-balancing shoes that help protect elderly from falls
A new smart shoe called B-Shoe developed in the United States claims that it can help prevent elderly users from falling.
It is able to do this by using a motion sensor to correct imbalance.
The B-Shoe also uses a microprocessor to analyze when a wearer is unbalanced. This then triggers a small traction device built into the shoe that can move the foot in order to restore balance.
The shoes are currently in development, and the company is looking for investment to complete the testing process and begin manufacturing.
As people get older, their movements and the ability to quickly take a backwards step in order to regain balance reduces. This is when these shoes could be useful. The footwear will also have the ability to connect to mobile devices, and alert family members or carergivers should a fall occur.
