First national meet of parents & people with disabilities held in Chennai
The first National Summit of Parents and Persons with Multiple Disabilities and the National Youth Festival was held in Chennai by the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities.
There were participants from all across India. Parents cheered their ‘special’ family members and bonded over games, music and dance. For many people, it was a chance to see what kind of opportunities there were in the southern part of India.
The event saw disabled adults taking part as well. Like motorbike enthusiast Lalithkumar Natarajan — who is the first Indian paraplegic to ride on the highest road in India.
