Bengaluru engineering students create alert device for drivers

Four engineering students from Bengaluru have created a system that will keep drivers safe during long distance driving.

The ‘driver drowsiness detection’ system alerts the driver all through the journey with the help of sound and vibrations.

This ensures that the driver stays alert and does not fall asleep while behind wheels.

The device uses a face-reading system to notice eye movement and the number of yawns. If the eyes remain shut for more than the standard blinking time of 1.5 seconds, it sends alert.

Many accidents occur when the driver gets tired and falls asleep while driving, causing loss of lives.
