Sensex closes 216 points down, Nifty settles below 10,000

The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty were trading down on Wednesday.

Asian and the US shares came down after Pyongyang (capital of North Korea) said it plans to attack Guam (a place in the US). This announcement came just hours after US President Donald Trump told North Korea that any danger to the US is not acceptable. The BSE Sensex closed 216.35 points down at 31,797.84 while the NSE Nifty closed 70.50 points down at 9,908.05. The top three Sensex gainers were NTPC (+1.25%), ONGC (+0.98%) and HDFC (+0.84%). The top three Sensex losers were Sun Pharma (-5.13%), Adani Ports (-4.12%) and Cipla (-3.50%). The top three Nifty gainers were Hindalco (+1.83%), NTPC (+1.43%) and Asian Paint (+0.71%). The top three Nifty losers were Auro Pharma (-6.08%), Sun Pharma (-5.57%) and Adani Ports (-4.53%).
