Facebook to discontinue Groups app from 1 September

Social network Facebook will stop the mobile service of its ‘Facebook Groups’ Android and iOS app from 1 September.

The move comes after the company found that Groups app is not very popular among the mobile users and shutting down the service can help the company to improve the Groups feature within the main Facebook app itself.

The company has also confirmed that the groups within the main app are not going away and users will still be able to access the groups from the main app.

As for now, Facebook is also testing a new way to ‘go live’, an option that is available by pressing the ‘Live video’ button on the Status update box.
