Dangal to be available for blind and deaf on TV
Blind and deaf film lovers will be able to enjoy Aamir Khan’s Dangal. Zee Entertainment Enterprises, which holds telecast rights to the movie, has decided to use audio description for the audiences.
Audio description conveys the most important visual aspects of the story by providing commentary during pauses and moments of silence. It is a voice-over narration that explains what’s happening on the screen, including physical actions made by various characters.
This audio description is recorded and made available as a separate audio track that can be selected by the audience on their remote. The movie will also have subtitles for the hearing impaired or deaf audiences.
Zee is also looking at adding audio description in other Indian regional languages in the future. Dangal is based on the true story of a former Indian national wrestling champion who fights social biases to train his two young daughters to be world-class wrestlers. The film will be shown on Zee Cinema on Independence Day.
