Free legal aid for the disabled started in Kozhikode, Kerala
A free legal aid service has been started for the disabled in the town of Kozhikode in Kerala.
The District Legal Services Authority and the Composite Regional Centre for Persons with Disabilities have launched a legal clinic exclusively for people with disabilities in the capital.
The need was felt because the disabled are often helpless when they are denied rights and benefits like pensions and scholarships. The clinic will try and help them.
People with disabilities often find themselves caught up in property rights issues and dispute over roads too. The free legal aid will be offered at the clinic in Kozhikode on the third Monday of every month on the Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences campus.
