Deaf and mute wrestler is waiting for government aid
Deaf and mute wrestler from India, Virender Singh has not received financial aid from the government. This is disheartening as the Virender Singh has won a total of seven medals for India at international events including four gold medals. Virender Singh works as a junior coach and is not earning enough money to live in a decent house. He is popularly known as the Goonga Pehelwan. Virender Singh struggled from the very start in his life due to hearing and speech impairments. He was able to learn the sign language at the age of 10 when he went to Delhi, as there was no facility in his village. He won another gold medal at the Deaflympics in Turkey recently, but got no reception or welcome from the sports ministry.
