Karnataka’s Indira Canteens charge 5 rupees to 10 rupees for food
Indira Canteens have been launched in Karnataka to offer food at subsidized prices to poor people. The state government has started the project with 101 canteens.
As per reports, Breakfast is available for 5 rupees and lunch and dinner for 10 rupees each. The menu is based on Karnataka’s traditional cuisine and has been designed by leading chefs of five-star hotels. One canteen can feed around 300 to 500 customers in a day.
Such canteens are already running in other states such as Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh. They were made popular by the Tamil Nadu CM, late Jayalalithaa.
