Here’s how to check if your Aadhaar is active or not

More than 80 lakh Aadhaar numbers have been deactivated by the Unique Identification Authority of India – UIDAI, says a report.

Aadhaar is a 12-digit identity number given by the UIDAI. The government has made it compulsory for people to write their Aadhaar number in different tasks like filing of income tax return – ITR, getting a Permanent Account Number – PAN and others.

Here’s how you can check if your Aadhaar is active or not.

Go to Aadhaar verification link on the UIDAI website.

Enter the 12-digit Aadhaar number in the correct box to check if your Aadhaar number is active or not.

In the ‘Enter security code’ field, fill in the code shown in the image and click ‘Verify’.

If your Aadhaar number is active, it will show the message confirming the status of the Aadhaar number given.

If your Aadhaar number is inactive, the page says the number ‘doesn’t exist’ at the end of the verification process.
