Western Railway stations to get gardens near platforms
Soon, nine Western Railway (WR) stations which includes Mumbai Central, Matunga Road, Bandra, Khar and Kandivli, will have small areas of garden near the tracks, platforms and other areas.
The railway officials are working with Rotary and Lions Club to build small gardens next to their platforms. The project will also cover stations like Borivali, Bhayander, Vasai and Nalasopara.
The project is a part of the ‘Rail Swacchata Pakhwada’, which means cleanliness fortnight. The project has been started on 16 August and will continue till 31 August across the rail network.
Central Railway stations already have set up such small gardens, which are used by travellers to throw waste material and burn waste products and garbage.
