Using dating app Tinder may lead to negative self-image, says study
A new study has found that people who use the famous dating app Tinder have more body dissatisfaction, which may have a negative effect on their mental health and self-confidence.
The research said that people accept or reject possible matches based on photos and sometimes a short description. This type of judging people based on looks affects both male and female Tinder users who experience low self-confidence, body shame and negative moods.
For the study, more than 700 females and 120 male college-going Tinder users were included. Participants were asked questions about their mood, level of body satisfaction, self-esteem, social pressures and others.
