One year old gets cochlear implant at Fortis Hospital
One year old Chakshit Bansal was born deaf and mute. He has recently undergone cochlear implant surgery at the Fortis Hospital in Ludhiana, Punjab.
ENT Specialist Dr Rajat Bhatia had suggested that the surgery will be beneficial for Chakshit after he examined the child.
The surgery was successful and the child is recovering well. In a cochlear implant, electronic device are surgically implanted and they provide a sense of sound to the hearing impaired.
Experts recommend the surgery at an early age for maximum benefit. In a child the brain is still developing and learning to interpret sound.
