Railway Protection Force takes action against 12 cops for traveling in disabled coach
The Ghatkopar Railway Protection Force in Mumbai has taken action against 25 people, including 12 cops, for travelling in coaches reserved for the disabled.
The RPF has organized a special drive against the those travelling in handicapped coaches. Of the 12 cops caught, five are from the Government Railway Police.
Between January and June this year, the Central Railway's Mumbai division RPF has caught 7,835 people for traveling in coaches reserved for the handicapped. Action against them yielded a fine of Rs 23 lakh. Of these, 91 were government employees, including 65 cops and municipal staff.
At Kurla station, the RPF had even tried to shame such offenders by clicking their pictures, making them hold crutches or making them sit on a wheelchair.
