Mumbai faces heaviest rainfall since 2005
Mumbai was covered in waist-deep water after what weather officials described as the heaviest and longest spell of rain since 26 July, 2005, when the city was affected by heavy flooding.
The weather has been described as 'typhoon-like weather', and large parts of the city have been flooded. Traffic was delayed on Tuesday and trains were also running late.
On Tuesday, it started raining continuously from morning, leaving cars stuck on the roads for hours.
People were struggling to cross roads with water reaching up to their waist. Flooding was reported in the Sion, Dadar, Mumbai Central, Kurla, Andheri and Sakinaka areas.
