Financial stress can increase the risk of developing migraine, says study
A new study says that stress caused by financial problems such as bankruptcy, debts, loss of money, low salary and other money-related issues can increase the risk of migraines in people with a particular gene.
Migraine is a serious headache that affects over one billion people worldwide. Its symptoms include nausea and sensitivity to light and sound.
For the study, the researchers checked about 2349 patients, for two types of the CLOCK gene, and how these are related with migraine.
The CLOCK gene is a gene related with the sleep-wake cycle, which makes long-term stress-related migraines more common.
The researchers showed that stress due to financial issues led to an increase in migraine in those who have a particular type of gene.
