Delhi Police arrest British man for sexually abusing blind kids
A 54-year-old Britisher has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting three children at a home run by the National Association for the Blind, which is a non-profit organisation in Delhi.
Murray Dennis Ward, who is from Gloucestershire was taken into custody after a worker at the children’s home caught him abusing the blind boys.
The worker recorded a video of the act on his mobile phone before alerting the management.
Ward has denied any abuse but the video clip goes against him.
Apart from this, pornographic material about children has also been found on his laptop. Police say that investigations show he is a paedophile.
Ward was working in a senior position with a multinational company based in Gurgaon until last April. He suffered a paralytic attack in February and was undergoing treatment.
He was a frequent visitor at the NGO for the blind for the past eight years, and had donated a lot of money for the children’s education and hostel.
He used to teach English and communication skills free to the kids. The NGO says that visitors are never allowed to meet children in closed rooms. But because of his long association, Ward was allowed access to the hostel.
He has been charged under the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act, and sent to police custody for two days.
