Government may increase minimum salary to Rs 21,000 for its employees
The central government may increase the minimum salary of its employees from the current Rs 18,000 to Rs 21,000, says a report.
However, it is reported that the demand of the employees was to hike the minimum pay to Rs 25,000.
Earlier, the government had benefited the 48 lakh central government employees by approving suggestions of 7th Central Pay Commission with 34 changes.
The increased allowances came into effect from 1 July 2017 and were based on the recommendations of the Committee on Allowances (CoA).
The 7th Pay Commission suggested the removal of 53 allowances, from which the government decided not to remove 12 allowances.
Also, the Pay Commission had suggested lowering the HRA rates to 24 % for X, 16 % for Y and 8 % for Z category of cities.
