Karnataka Chief Minister orders police to protect activists with liberal thoughts
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has instructed police to provide protection to activists with liberal thoughts.
This is after a senior journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh was murdered near her home in Bengaluru on Tuesday evening.
The chief minister said he has asked the police to take Lankesh's murder case seriously and a special investigative team has been set up.
Siddaramaiah agreed that the murder was a planned crime and he has left it to the police to probe the case further.
The chief minister also said that he had met Lankesh recently, but she did not mention anything about threats.
Seven bullets were fired at Lankesh at her doorstep, when she was about to enter her house. Three bullets hit her, two in her chest and one in the forehead.
