Over 900 PwDs got assistive devices in Puducherry

More than 900 disabled people were given assistive devices worth ₹24 lakh at the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana camp held in Puducherry.

977 people with disabilities included mostly senior citizens, received 1,293 assistive devices at the camp. Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy gave out the various devices at the event.

The different assistive devices included walking sticks, crutches, walkers, tetra pods or tripods, hearing aids, wheelchairs, artificial dentures and spectacles.

It was also announced at the event that Puducherry government is in the process of implementing various schemes for the elderly and physically-challenged people.

As per official data there are 20,952 people with disability in the Union Territory of Puducherry.
