Over 100 wheelchair users rally at Rajpath to create awareness on spinal cord injuries
More than 100 spinal injury patients and over 750 able bodied people came together in the Rajpath in New Delhi with the aim of creating awareness about spinal cord injuries and also showing their positive spirit towards life.
Spinal injury patients, consumers and able bodied people participated in the rally which was organised under the banner of the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre (ISIC), the institute for spinal care, and six other national societies.
Union Minister Dr Mahesh Sharma cheered the participants and flagged off the unique rally.
Shailesh Kumar Sinha, who is India's fastest wheelchair marathoner, and the Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police Ajay Choudhary were guests of honour for the rally.
Spinal Cord Injury Day is observed on 5 September every year to raise awareness among people with spinal injuries also work towards achieving an inclusive life for the disabled people.
