Experienced TV and stage actor Tom Alter diagnosed with cancer
Experienced film, television and theatre actor and Padma Shri Tom Alter is suffering from cancer, says a report.
The actor's family shared the news some days after he was admitted to Mumbai's Saifee Hospital.
67 years old Alter is under treatment and expert care at Saifee Hospital. Alter's family has asked for privacy as the treatment continues.
Alter has acted in more than 300 movies and in many TV shows. He is well-known for his role as a gangster Keshav Kalsi in the successful show Junoon which ran for five years during the 1990s.
Alter has also worked as a director and was a sports journalist in the late 1980s to early 1990s.
Alter has written three books and was awarded the Padma Shri by the Indian government in 2008 for his services in the field of arts and cinema.
