Sensex closes 55 points up, Nifty settles above 10,000
The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty were trading up on Thursday due to positive market conditions. This is after inflation based on the wholesale price index hit a fourth month high in the month of August. Wholesale price index-based inflation increased sharply to 3.24 % in August from 1.88 % in July.
The BSE Sensex closed 55.52 points up at 32,241.93 while the NSE Nifty closed 7.30 points up at 10,086.60.
The top three Sensex gainers were Sun Pharma (+4.24%), Axis Bank (+4.20%) and Tata Motors (+3.62%).
The top three Sensex losers were Wipro (-4.10%), ONGC (-1.12%) and M&M (-1.06%).
The top three Nifty gainers were Tata Motor DVR (+4.50%), Axis Bank (+4.04%) and Sun Pharma (+3.96%).
The top three Nifty losers were Wipro (-4.28%), Vedanta Ltd (-2.19%) and GAIL (-1.78%).
