The research showed that expressing feelings on a sheet of paper can cool the brain and help people manage the stressful tasks more efficiently. It also said that expressive writing can help individuals process their past traumas or stressful events.
For the study, participants wrote about their deepest thoughts and feelings about their future tasks and also their past tasks.
