Sports Ministry recommends badminton player PV Sindhu for Padma Bhushan

Indian badminton player PV Sindhu has been recommended for the Padma Bhushan award by the Sports Ministry.

Earlier this month, 22 years old Sindhu became the first Indian to win the Korean Open Super Series. She created history at the Rio Olympics in 2016 by becoming the first Indian woman to win a silver medal at the Olympics.

In 2015, Sindhu had won the Padma Shri Award, which is India’s fourth highest civilian honour and the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 2016.

The Hyderabadi player who is currently world no 2 in the BWF World Ranking, expressed her happiness and thanked the government and Sports Ministry for the recommendation.
