Delhi High Court employs acid attack victims, transgender
The Delhi High Court has given jobs to five acid attack victims and a transgender person after their problems were highlighted to Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal.
A senior member of the HC administration said that this is the first of its kind decision and all the six people have been provided clerical jobs on contract as per their qualifications.
The initiative by the High Court could inspire other institutions in the country to give value to such people.
Earlier this month, the Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) sent a proposal to the court to explore job opportunities for these people.
All the six of them had failed to get government jobs and had faced discrimination due to their physical condition, which made the officials to look into the matter.
