Sensex closes above 30,000; Nifty settles above 9,700

The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty were trading up on Friday as the government stuck to its budgeted market borrowing for the financial year, easing concerns New Delhi would widen its fiscal deficit target.

The BSE Sensex closed 1.24 points up at 31,283.72 while the NSE Nifty closed 19.65 points up at 9,788.60.

The top three Sensex gainers were Bajaj-Auto (+2.34%), Bharti Airtel (+1.63%) and Adani Ports (+1.51%).

The top three Sensex losers were Hindustan Unilever (-2.37%), Wipro (-1.71%) and TCS (-1.67%).

The top three Nifty gainers were GAIL (+5.70%), Eichermot (+3.42%) and Hindustan Petroleum (+3.34%).

The top three Nifty losers were Hindustan Unilever (-2.76%), Wipro (-1.99%) and Dr Reddy (-1.89%).
