Sushma Swaraj announces monetary help to find deaf girl Geeta’s parents
Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has announced a reward of Rs one lakh to help Geeta unite with her parents.
Geeta is a 25-year-old deaf girl who was brought back to India from Pakistan in 2015. Geeta had unknowingly crossed the border into Pakistan over a decade ago.
Holding Geeta in her arms in a video, Sushma requested to Geeta’s parents to come and accept her and assured them that Geeta’s studies and marriage will be taken care of.
After Geeta was brought back to India, she was taken by an NGO in Indore, where she learned sewing and using the computer.
